Want some tips to have a GREAT shoot?
First off, plan on coming and having fun. Yelling at your kid to smile is not allowed. I will do everything I can to make everyone have a good time, even if it means bringing out my famous monkey dance. A good picture shows a forced smile, a great picture shows real emotion. So if your kid doesn't want to smile, don't let that ruin the session. They will either give us a ton of amazing pictures with all their other great faces or I will end up making them laugh in the end. So let's make sure we make the session a fun experience. Remember we have a whole hour, so bring snacks, drinks, whatever it takes, empty stomachs make for crabby models :) Also, feel free to bring anything personal, your sons skateboard, your daughters favorite stuffed animal, whatever you want to bring we can make it work in the photo also if you'd like. I love when my creative clients think ouside the box, but even better personal props help bring back memories even more when looking at photographs.
Ok so enough of my rambling....let's get to what you really want to know...
WHAT TO WEAR:
-Layers- Wearing layers make a fun look, make sure to bring accessories and hats to enhance everyones outfits. Since I have no rules, I love when clients bring lots of stuff so even I get to choose in the fun. Be on the look out for great ideas on how to make family photos look great. Everyone wearing the same thing is so 1950....ask and I can give you some great ideas for the season and even point you to the right places to shop.
-Color- Don't be afraid of color. I love when people do neautral colors but with pops of bold color.
-Texture- I love the way denim photographs, knits, corduroy, linen...need I say more...all these fabrics are just yummy!
-Accessories- Hats, shoes, boots, jewlery, you name it, I say bring it. Nothing jazzes up a photo them some great accessories.
MY ONLY RULE- No dirty shoes.....nothing ruins a great family picture then dad wearing his dirty gross sneakers with a great outfit....if you come like this, I will put you barefoot :)
